Pre-festival warm up event
Opening / Art videos projection
Slađana Mitrović (Slovenia): Koža Special / Skin Special (video, 2007, 02:56'')
A reflection of what it means to be identified as a woman in modern capitalistic society which constantly reproduces perfect images of women-objects. Slađana Mitrović's video presents the shaving of a woman's face as a performative action, supported by sound installation. The video questions women’s images in postmodern society through a transfer of woman's face to space that is possessed, created and defined by man.
Ana Grobler (Slovenia): Migrena / Migraine, (video, 2007, 05:23'')
This ‘migraine self-portrait’ was filmed and edited during a migraine attack. As such, it is interwoven with pain. Video effects serve to show, bring closer and facilitate the experience of ill person's condition during migraine. The ratio of women to men struck with migraine is 3 to 1, and the cleavage between both further increases with age. Is the increasing number of affected women a matter of biology or is it a phenomenon triggered by society?
Exhibition opened until March 10th, 2008
Gallery closing/opening schedule: Mon – Tue, 8 am – 8 pm
